Some of you may remember my sewing escapade from last summer. Like last year, I got really hot and decided I had no summer clothes so I needed to make myself a summer something to wear. Last year, I made myself a shift dress. However, upon finishing the dress, I put it on only to discover I had created a beautiful muu muu. Yes, I still have the dress because the fabric is still pretty, but I haven't worn the dress.
This year, I decided to make Amy Butler's Barcelona A-line skirt. It turned out much better this year and I will wear this dress. Below are a few highlights.
Here is the fabric I finally decided on. It's fun, fresh and makes me think happy summer memories.

I love that skirt! That's the style I wore a few years ago when I was young, hip and skinny! I love it!!!
So cute!
Love the fabric! and you should be a model ;-)
So cute! You have way more patience and talent then I do! I love the print.
Kelly, that is so cute!!! I need to learn to make my own clothes...I am forever searching for cute skirts that fit my frame.
Thanks everyone. The fabric is from designer Joel Dewberry. I find I am often drawn to his fabric (in fact, I plan to make another skirt using another one of his fabrics).
Holly, my mom took a class one time where she learned how to modify patterns to fit her specific frame. If I hear about one I'll let you know. I'd like to take a class like that too.
Kelly, I couldn't possibly love it more. It's so perfect for you and you did a great job sewing it. You look so pretty in it! You should definitely continue making more.
Very cute and fresh! You're totally hired.
