I'm so handy

Late last night our garbage disposal burned out. I woke up this morning feeling awful because there was a counter full of dishes and red velvet cake sitting in the sink that was not draining. Thankfully, my visiting teachers were scheduled to come this morning. They watched Miles while I went to the store, purchased a new garbage disposal, and installed it. I had to work with plumbing and electrical and deal with pink water and chunks of red velvet cake. However, the garbage disposal is now installed and it works with no leaks. I am eternally grateful to my visiting teachers, who without them, I could not have accomplished this task today. I don't want to see red velvet cake, though, for a long time.

I am impressed. Steve emailed us earlier at work today? Looks like you've found a new hobby?

appliances only seem to break down when they are full of goop.

At least it wasn't fudge... :D

Wow, I am amazed. It feels good doesn't it? I changed my own headlight once and was so proud of myself. Our disposal, or maybe sink, is leaking. Maybe there is hope for us to fix it ourselves...doubt it.

Very impressive!

I think I'm most impressed that you have the tools to do it. I think that I have more tools in my car than certain members of my family have in their house... (I won't name names though)

Wow! That's great. Next time you guys come to our area I'll gladly hold Miles while you replace our garbage disposal (we've never liked it). After that, you can fix the transmission in our car.

That definitely deserves another cake as a celebration. Good job Kelly! It's amazing how much we rely on our garbage disposals! How wonderful that you have great visiting teachers too! :)

Let me make a few things clear. First off, I replaced the garbage disposal with the exact same model so there were parts I didn't have to replace. Secondly, I'm not really as handy as I think. I did not install the dishwasher drain correctly and we had a little flood last night. Everything is better now though.

I am still impressed that Kelly removed and installed a new disposal. The dishwasher thing was a minor mistake that was easily fixed. Kelly still had to install the new disposal for me since I couldn't figure out how it attached to the sink. Sogood job Kelly. I'm impressed.

I'm impressed too! Nice work Kelly! When I replaced ours, I didn't punch out the little plastic part where the dishwasher connects to the disposal and we had a little flood too. Weird. Nice job!
